Top 10 Disney Villain Songs

Here we go, another Disney blog. And a countdown list, they're always difficult to write! I was listening to my Disney playlist when I realised just how many of the baddies have their share of catchy tunes, and here I have compiled a list of my Top 10 Disney Villain Songs.

10 - Hans (& Anna) - Love is an Open Door

I think most of us were tricked the first time we watched Frozen, tricked into thinking that Hans may be a good guy. Maybe he would have married Anna and Kristoff would have been with Elsa. Oh no, he's a total arse.  

9 - Forte - Don't Fall In Love

Beauty and the Beast 2 (The Enchanted Christmas)
I think this is an underrated film. Forte is bloody scary. You know what makes him even scarier? He is voiced by tim curry, who was Pennywise in IT. You don't need to be in the Christmas season to enjoy this film, I urge you to see it.  

8 - Scar - Be Prepared

We all hate Scar. Have you ever asked someone their favourite Disney villain and they have answered Scar? He killed his brother for goodness sake. He also has a brilliantly evil voice. Jeremy Irons was the villain in Die Hard 3, remember? No, you don't. At least you didn't until I just reminded you. 

7 - Gaston - Gaston

Beauty and the Beast

Gaston is one of my most hated Disney villains, he is the exact opposite to what I would look for in a man. Arrogant, a hunter, no ambition and doesn't believe in equality. He also wears big clumpy boots.  

6 - Ursula - Poor Unfortunate Souls

I knew there was more to it than we saw. I found out at the age of 23 that Ursula is Tritons sister, I just KNEW there was more to it than just an urge for power over the ocean. It's sibling rivalry! Remember the boob shake? That was embarrassing as a child, like seeing a cringey relative dancing at a wedding. 

5 - Honest John - Hi diddle dee dee

I can't put this higher. I just can't. I hate him so much. 'Honest John' is horrible. I hate you. Pinocchio has the evilest baddies ever, go back and watch it. Stromboli, who works Pinocchio on the stage and gives him nothing for it. The coachman, who turns boys in to donkeys to sell in to slavery? It's the ultimate evil. And 'Honest John' (Foulfellow) here, who is willing to do anything for a bit of money.  

4 - Mother Gothel - Mother Knows Best

I found this difficult to rank, as I was trying not to include the "Singability" factor when judging where to place the songs. This is very catchy and upbeat for a Disney villain song, and for just one moment Mother Gothel seems positively protective over Rapunzel. We know the truth.

3 - Governer Ratcliffe - Savages

Pocahontas
While this may be a song sung on both sides, it's considered to be Ratcliffes song and I think the hatred is felt more from his side. The English are invading Virginia to dig for gold and this uptight bastard is ordering his men to kill any of the 'savages' on sight. He's the savage!   

2 - Claude Frollo - Hellfire

The Hunchback of Notre Dame
This is a phenomenal song. I don't think I've ever described anything as phenomenal, but this feels right. It's a powerful, deep and dark song with messages not suitable for the younger Disney fans. Those that gave this film a miss or are only interested in the Princess side of Disney have seriously missed out, this is a gem. Like fire! Hellfire! This fire in my skin...  

1 - Dr. Facilier - Friends on the Other Side

Princess and the Frog

I bet you're surprised to see this at the top spot! Dr. Facilier has to be my favourite Disney villain, this song has two parts with the reprise later on when he is unable to repay the voodoo spirits for their help, and is sucked in to the 'other side' for eternity. It's all very chilling, increasingly intriguing, and brilliantly catchy. 

I've spent most of this Christmas revisiting lots of Disney classics. Oh who am I kidding, I watch Disney all the time. Top 10 Best Disney Songs

This is a run down of my top 10 Disney songs. This was a very difficult challenge for me, as I am a big fan of Disney and each film has at least one catchy song. That and I didn't want to put more than one for a single film, so I had to choose between many great songs! I have left out so many brilliant films and songs but I've watered down some of my favourites.

10 - That's How You Know (Enchanted)

I am quite new to this film having only seen it just this year. But it's brilliant, so catchy and so theatrical. I think Amy Adams perfectly portrays a Disney princess.

9 - Colours of the Wind (Pocahontas)

This is a great song to sing and it's got an important message. Pocahontas explains to John Smith in true Disney style that all creatures and life are equal, nomatter what race or species. 

8 - Prince Ali (Aladdin)

This is one of Robin Williams best films on par with Mrs Doubtfire. His voice is perfect for Genie and this is the catchiest song in the film. 

7 - Bare Necessities (The Jungle Book)

I have a video somewhere of me when I was 5 or 6 singing this. "Look for the Bare necessemies, the sepa sere nacessemies. Forget about your worries and your stripe. Yeahraa!"

6 - Hakuna Matata (The Lion King)

It was a choice between this or Be Prepared, as Jeremy Irons has such an evil voice. I chose this one as I remember singing it in primary school assembly! It's quite a Buddhist mantra - No Worries! Be mindful, be aware but... Don't stress! 

5 - Reflection (Mulan)

Mulan is doubting herself as she was rejected by the matchmaker who said she would never bring her family honour. As we all know, she certainly DOES by the end of the film. Another favourite is Lesson Number One from Mulan 2. I heard the song before I watched the film and hearing it made me NEED to. 

4 - Part Of Your World (The Little Mermaid)

This is a film that came out not long before I was born, and I watched it countless times on VHS. I think even the men of my generation have the words of this one memorised. Under The Sea is a close second due to it's ultimate feel-good-vibe. If only Ariel could appreciate it and stay for the whole song...

3 - I've Got a Dream (Tangled)

This was an extra tough one as there is a good handful of songs in Tangled. I chose this one as I find it impossible to sit still during it, plus there's a Pinocchio in the background!

2 - Let It Go (Frozen)

Another film that I found it difficult to choose between songs, but I am cuddling my Elsa doll as I type. This song means so much to so many people. To accept who you really are despite what people think of you and your flaws. Let it gooo, let it goooo, I am one with the wind and sky!

1 - When You Wish Upon A Star (Pinocchio)

This genuinely deserves its title as the official Disney introduction. I can barely listen to seconds of it without blubbing my eyes out. Yup, there they are. Just gone to get the video for you and I burst. There is very little else I can say, Pinocchio means so much to me!

10 - Tea

I drink so much tea. I don't like any fancy types or flavours, it's plain English Breakfast for me. But I function so much better after I've had my morning cuppa. I can go through up to 10 a day, and with the size of my mug I need two teabags. I started drinking tea (Not so often) when I was 9. That's when my dad taught me how to use the kettle.

9 - Films

Preferably comedy films, but I'm partial to the odd action. My favourites are the Die Hard's, Back to the Futures (They have a cameo by the best bassist in the world), Pinocchio, Mulan, Zohan, Role Models and hundreds more. There's nothing like cuddling up on a cold night with a good film.

I've met a few famous people from movies, Robert Pattinson in 2005, Brandon Routh in June 2012, and my favourite of all, Sean Astin, aka my favourite Hobbit: Samwise Gamgee!

8 - Science

Science is intensely interesting. So many branches. So much to learn, yet so much undiscovered. You've got the philosophical side of science, where do we come from, why are we here. As well as the Psychological side; why do we act this way? What are people thinking? Why am I thinking this..? The Freudian biological side of things, which interests me most. What can we link to a persons fetish? Why we are attracted to someone with attributes of our own parents? How everything can be linked in some way to something erotic.

7 - Being appreciated

I love the look on someone's face when I give them an unexpected present. I love when someone notices that I've done or accomplished something. I like the feeling of being needed, even if it's hard work. Making people you care about happy, is what makes life worthwhile! This doesn't happen often, that's why it's made the list.

6 - Music

Everybody is into some kind of music. I like a bit of everything, but my favourite types are Eurovision, Disney, funk rock and game soundtracks. I'm a huge nerd, as you'll also see in number 4. My iPod is full of music from Runescape, Doom, CoI, Plants vs Zombies, Sonic etc.. My favourite legitimate band is Red Hot Chili Peppers, who I've been a fan of for as long as I can remember. My nickname is Dani California, and I was 11 when the name "Dani" was first sung in By The Way. Oh, the excitement! My fantastic Boyfriend bought me the ticket to see them live in November 2011, and I've never been on such a high. The Chili's are the drug without the need of... Drugs!

5 - Games

I'm a huge gamer. I was brought up by a bloke, and he was a gamer too. I prefer vintage games to modern ones, I own a Megadrive and have a lot of classic games. Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Zombies, Castle of Illusion... I also own a Playstation 2, and enjoy the Sims games,Champions series (Of Norrath/Return to Arms), and Dark Alliance II. I'm a grandmaster (Highest rank) on Miniclip Pool. Games in general are ridiculously fun. A temporary escape from reality!
I'm also a fairly avid Runescape player

4 - Comedy

I live to laugh. I love stand up by Lee Evans and Ricky Gervais. I love the feeling of making someone laugh. I love being a girl that's not afraid to make an offensive joke. I have a strange contagious laugh, which makes others laugh, then I'll laugh because they're laughing at me. It's extending my life! Somebody that greatly contributes to my health is Karl Pilkington. I don't know how interesting I'd be if Gervais hadn't given him to the world. 

3 - Pets

Yes, I'm one of those people. I love animals. Lions, Hamsters, cats, aww. I'm the type of person that gets stung by a bee, but feels sorry for the bee instead of myself. I read somewhere that a girl who owns hamsters will be a nightmare girlfriend. I was, BEFORE I owned hamsters, haha. I'm lucky enough that my boyfriend loves pets too. I've owned three, two Roborovskis and my new Syrian.

2 - Pin

How is it possible an inanimate object could bring so much happiness and comfort? It's all psychological. Attachment stems from how long you've been around it, and how important you deem the object. An object won't disappoint or hurt you (Provided it isn't sharp), it won't complain if your music is too loud. It won't tell you you're wrong. It's there if a human has upset you. I've had this attachment with Pin, my Pinocchio knitted doll since it was made for me when I was 2. I've taken him on holiday, I sleep with him, and somehow, I love him. I might be insane, but that's how it is.

1 - My boyfriend - Now fiancé

My fiancé is the greatest human being in the world. He's taught me how to be a decent girlfriend. I'm still learning to date, but I've learned so much in the time we've been together. I've never felt so patient with someone, In the sense that I still love him this much after learning about him entirely. I even love the things I dislike about him. He keeps me calm when my emotions get out of control, he makes me feel loved and needed, and subconsciously makes me feel I'll make a good wife. People say it to each other all the time, but I genuinely believe it when he says "I'd do anything for you".
